Aaliyah Dana Haaughton gained fame after releasing her first album Age Ain't Nothing But a Number in 1994. The album came out as Gold in the year she turned just 15 years old. R. Kelly heavily influenced the group and helped bring her up to the top of the charts. The year 1996 saw her release her sophomore album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album featured the hit number one single If Your girl only knew. Aaliyah received international recognition for her R&B singing on the album. She was also on the screen in Romeo Must Die, a romantic action film with Jet-Li. Joel Silver, a film producer, who was attending an award show in which she was cast and spotted her. She was a part of the Anne Rice-based vampire film Queen of the Damned, it was released in 2002. She also was on screen in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. She is of Indian heritage and was born Connecticut. The stage name Mann comes from her married name Mankad. Aarti is a combination of Aarti Majumdar as well as Aarti Munn as professional names. Though she started her career in film and TV with a few minor parts, her acting career started to gain speed in the late 2000s. Other than The Big Bang Theory her other notable works are Leverage (2012) Suits (2013) as well as Grey's Anatomy (2017). The commercials she has done have been for big brands, like Volvo. She is a resident of Los Angeles where she continues to perform as an actor.
