Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born into a musical family on August 9, 1963, in Newark New Jersey the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston (nee Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. and the cousin of singer Dionne Warwick. The mother of Whitney and Whitney began to sing professionally together at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark in the year Whitney was just fifteen years old. They performed backing vocals in Chaka Kans' 1978 hit Im Every Woman. She provided backing vocals for Lou Rawls, Jermaine jackson as well as her mother. The year 1981 saw her begin singing with New York's funk band Material. It is her vocal performances of high quality which attracted notice of major record label including Arista. The debut Whitney Houston album was released in 1985. It would become one of the top-selling albums by an artist. From the album, she had several smash singles, including Saving the Day, All My Love for You How Do You Know You're Good to Love And The More Love of All. This helped her achieve seven US number one hits in a row. She beat even the Beatles. The album was sold to three million people in the first year and over 25 million worldwide. She won her six Grammys for her first time. The Whitney follow-up in 1987 with the singles How Do Broken Hearts GO and I Wanna Dance With Somebody helped to further build upon the success of her first album. But it was, the 1992 movie The Bodyguard that solidified her standing as an artist with the highest sales. The film itself as well as her performance in it were not highly praised the soundtrack album and her version of Dolly Parton song I Will Always Love You topped the singles and albums charts for months. It sold more than 44 million copies around the globe. The same year that she gave birth to her daughter Bobbi she married Bobby Brown of the ex-New Edition group. Around this time, her well-documented usage of drugs began. In 1996 she became a daily drug user.
Dana Bash is also known by the name of Dana Ruth Schwartz and she is a journalist for the Washington Post as well as a reporter at CNN. The anchorwoman has also created certain of the network's Sunday shows such as Evans & Novak' Late Edition as well as Inside Politics.' In the past, she has also been a part of NBC as well as CBS. Bash's awards and recognitions include being listed in Elle magazine's Women in Washington Power List.
